Choose a ChemLink sealant or adhesive by job
Almost every ChemLink sealant is solvent-free and moisture-cure, stays flexible and does not shrink as it cures. What sets them apart is joint movement capability, chemistry and intended substrate. Start from the joint or bond you have to make, then confirm the movement class and substrate on the current datasheet.

Movement class, cure rate, temperature limits and paintability are product-specific and appear with their test method on each datasheet. Confirm the current sheet before approving a substitution for a specified ChemLink product.

The ChemLink product lines we stock
ChemLink groups its range into a handful of families. Knowing which family you are in narrows the choice to two or three products.
ChemLink M1 structural adhesive sealant
M1 is the flagship and the general-duty product in the range — a moisture-cure adhesive sealant that bonds and seals most construction materials, including metals, masonry, wood, glass, fiberglass and most roofing membranes. It is solvent-free and 100% solids, so it does not shrink back as it cures, and it is published for application down to 32°F.
Stocked in 10.1oz cartridges in six colors and 20oz sausages by the case. Full specifications are on the M1 product page.
DuraLink 35 and DuraLink 50 joint sealants
The DuraLink line is made for perimeter and facade joints, with wide color matching. DuraLink 35 is SWRI validated for ±35% joint movement and is the economical multi-purpose choice for windows, door frames, siding, parapets and masonry joints.
DuraLink 50 is the higher-movement super-adhesion product for curtain wall, precast, cove joints and expansion joints. Both are isocyanate free, paintable and bond to Kynar 500® PVDF coated metal.
NovaLink 35, NovaLink SL and NovaLink FP
NovaLink is the waterproofing part of the range, formulated for damp, dry and cold conditions. NovaLink 35 is UV resistant, will not suntan and is SWRI validated at ±35% for concrete, glass, metal and most roofing materials.
NovaLink SL is self-leveling for horizontal concrete work — walkways, patios, pool decks, parking structures and traffic-bearing joints. NovaLink FP is a gun-grade black flashing and patching mastic for roof leaks, valleys, seams and chimney flashings, with a 35°F minimum.
MetaLink and DuraSil silicones
MetaLink is the neutral-cure silicone for metal roofs, gutters, downspouts and architectural metal. Neutral cure means it will not corrode unprotected metal. It is validated for ±50% movement, bonds to Kynar 500® PVDF and is stocked in metal-roof colors including Slate Gray, Regal Blue, Regal Red and Terra Red.
DuraSil is the silicone adhesive sealant for dissimilar materials — glass, aluminum, steel, copper, masonry, PVC and fiberglass — in white, black, gray and translucent.
TileSecure, WallSecure and BuildSecure adhesives
TileSecure roof tile adhesive is a moisture-cure adhesive for installing and repairing clay, composite, concrete and slate roof tile. ChemLink publishes that it will not crack in extreme cold or slump at high temperature, and it is stocked in six tile-matched colors.
WallSecure is the fast-setting adhesive for drywall, gypsum, landscape block, capstone, stone, foam and FRP panels. BuildSecure is the structural adhesive for panel-on-frame assemblies and cites HUD UM-60 and ASTM D3498 for subfloor bonding.
Specialty products, primer and accessories
M1 CR is tested for semiconductor clean room use, and M1 Marine is formulated for service above the waterline and, once cured, below it. Clear is the general-purpose option where the bead must not show.
The Low VOC EPDM/TPO Primer prepares single-ply membranes and other difficult surfaces. SOF-Rod backer rod is stocked in four diameters, and Pro Pack is the two-component pourable urethane for penetration seals and pitch pans.
Field planning
Install ChemLink sealants and adhesives correctly
These products are forgiving about weather and difficult substrates, which is a large part of why contractors specify them. They are not forgiving about joint design or contamination. Use the manufacturer instructions together with the project specification.
Joint design and movement class
Pick the movement class before the color. A joint that cycles more than the sealant is rated for will fail at the bond line no matter how well it is tooled. DuraLink 35 and NovaLink 35 are validated at ±35%; DuraLink 50 and MetaLink are the higher-movement options.
Set joint width and depth to the product’s published ratio and use backer rod so the sealant bonds to two faces rather than three. SOF-Rod is stocked in four diameters to suit common joint widths.
Substrate, primer and surface preparation
Surfaces must be clean, sound and free of dirt, oil, frost, form release and loose coating. ChemLink cites isopropyl alcohol as an effective cleaner for surface preparation on several products, including M1 and DuraLink 35.
EPDM and TPO membranes, plastics and other difficult bonding surfaces generally require the Low VOC EPDM/TPO Primer. ChemLink also advises that these products do not adhere to polyethylene or polypropylene — verify the substrate on the datasheet before locking in a detail.
Temperature, damp surfaces and cure
These are moisture-cure products, so ambient humidity drives cure rate. M1 and DuraLink 35 are published for application to damp surfaces at temperatures as low as 32°F; NovaLink FP carries a 35°F minimum. Cold or dry conditions extend cure.
Cure is skin-in from the surface down, so deep beads and large fillets take considerably longer to cure through than a tooled joint. Plan return-to-service, traffic and water exposure from the published cure data rather than from tack-free time.
Color, paintability and appearance
Stocked colors vary by product line. MetaLink is carried in metal-roof colors including Slate Gray, Regal Blue, Regal Red and Terra Red; M1, DuraLink and NovaLink are carried in the standard construction colors. Use the Color filter on this page to see what is currently in stock.
Several lines are paintable within a stated window, and ChemLink notes that NovaLink 35 white can shift off-white over time. Where a color must hold exactly, plan to paint or select a factory color rather than relying on the cured sealant.

Confirm the specified performance
Read joint movement with the standard and test method, then check substrate list, minimum application temperature, cure schedule, paintability and service exposure. ChemLink products are not NSF certified for potable water or incidental food contact; specify accordingly.
Calculate cartridges and cases
Multiply joint width by depth by total length to get volume, add an allowance for waste and tooling, then divide by the published yield for the exact cartridge or sausage. Several lines here are sold only by the case, so round up to full cases.
Assemble the submittal
Identify the product, SKU, color and pack size. Collect the current datasheet, SDS, installation instructions and any SWRI or ASTM C920 documentation the project requests. Ask for technical help when a limit or document is unclear.

Does ChemLink M1 need a primer?
On most common construction substrates M1 bonds without a primer, which is one reason it is specified so widely. EPDM and TPO membranes, plastics and other difficult bonding surfaces are the exception and generally need the Low VOC EPDM/TPO Primer first. ChemLink also advises that its products do not adhere to polyethylene or polypropylene. Check the substrate list on the current datasheet before committing to a detail.
Is ChemLink M1 paintable?
Yes, within the window stated on the datasheet, and because M1 is a polyether it resists the yellowing that some sealants show under UV. Where an exact color has to hold over the long term, plan to paint or select a factory color rather than relying on the cured sealant to stay on tone.
How many tubes are in a case of ChemLink caulk?
It varies by product, which is worth confirming before you order. Most 10.1oz cartridge lines here ship 24 to a case, MetaLink and the M1 Marine and 20oz sausage lines ship 12, and M1 CR Clean Room ships in a 16-pack. Each listing on this page states the pack size in the product name, and several lines are sold only by the case.
What is the difference between DuraLink 35 and DuraLink 50?
Movement capability. DuraLink 35 is SWRI validated for ±35% joint movement and is the economical multi-purpose choice for windows, doors, siding, parapets and masonry joints. DuraLink 50 is the higher-movement super-adhesion product used where the joint cycles more, such as curtain wall, precast and expansion joints. Both are moisture-cure, isocyanate free, paintable and bond to Kynar 500® PVDF coated metal.
DuraLink or NovaLink — which one do I need?
They overlap, and both are validated at ±35% in the 35-class versions. DuraLink is positioned for window, door and siding perimeter work with wide color matching. NovaLink is the waterproofing line for damp, dry and cold conditions and roofing joints, with NovaLink SL for horizontal concrete and NovaLink FP for flashing and patch repairs. If the detail involves roofing, standing water or green concrete, start with NovaLink.
Which ChemLink sealant is right for a metal roof?
MetaLink is the neutral-cure silicone formulated for metal roofs, gutters, downspouts and architectural metal. Its neutral cure will not corrode unprotected metal, it is validated for ±50% joint movement, it bonds to Kynar 500® PVDF coated metal and it is stocked in metal-roof colors. Use M1 where the detail is a structural bond rather than a moving joint.
Can ChemLink sealant be used on a pool deck or concrete walkway?
NovaLink SL is the product for that work. It is self-leveling, so it is for horizontal joints only — it will flow out of a vertical joint — and it is published for concrete construction including walkways, patios, pool decks, parking structures and traffic-bearing joints. Size the backer rod to the joint width so the sealant bonds to two faces rather than three.
Can ChemLink sealants be applied in cold or damp conditions?
Most of the moisture-cure lines are made for exactly that. M1 and DuraLink 35 are published for application to damp surfaces at temperatures as low as 32°F, and NovaLink is specifically formulated for damp, dry and cold conditions. NovaLink FP carries a 35°F minimum. Cold, dry air slows the cure, so allow extra time before exposing the joint to traffic or water.
Are ChemLink products approved for potable water or food contact?
No. ChemLink’s technical literature states its products are not NSF approved for potable water or incidental food contact. If the specification calls for NSF/ANSI 61 potable-water certification, select a sealant carrying that listing instead — call 888-809-2365 and we will direct you to one.
