Frequently Asked Questions

What is ChemLink M-1 White 10.1 oz?
ChemLink M-1 is a moisture-curing STPE structural adhesive and sealant. This page is the white 10.1 oz cartridge for a standard caulk gun. It is solvent-free, non-sag, and rated ASTM C920 Class 35.

How does this cartridge compare with other M-1 packs?
All standard M-1 10.1 oz colors and 20 oz sausages are the same published chemistry. This cartridge is white 10.1 oz. Other colors: ChemLink M-1 black, gray, limestone, tan, and dark bronze. Sausage-gun packs: ChemLink M-1 white 20 oz sausage and black 20 oz sausage cases of 12. M-1 Marine and M-1 CR are different ChemLink products, not another color or pack of this sealant.

What substrates will M-1 bond?
The PDS lists EPDM (adhesion test required), PVC, TPO (adhesion test; use ChemLink LOW-VOC EPDM/TPO Primer), SBS, APP-modified bitumen, galvanized metal, aluminum, brass, copper, engineered plastics, glass, masonry, concrete, and wood. Do not use on fire-retardant lumber. Treated wood should weather six months first.

Can M-1 be applied in wet or cold weather?
Yes. M-1 may be applied in wet and dry conditions and at temperatures as low as 32°F (0°C). Substrates must still be clean and free of dust, oils, frost, and other contaminants. Dry standing water on concrete before placing sealant.

Does M-1 need a primer?
Most applications do not require a primer. TPO requires ChemLink LOW-VOC EPDM/TPO Primer. Adhesion tests are required on EPDM. A primer is recommended where prolonged immersion is anticipated. Confirm the substrate before the first production bead.

What is the tack-free and cure time?
Tack-free time is 35 ± 10 minutes. Full cure is typically reached within 24 hours and varies with humidity, temperature, and bead depth. Tool the bead within 15 minutes.
