Adeka Waterstop

Adeka UltraSeal is a hydrophilic rubber waterstop system for sealing concrete construction joints, pipe and utility penetrations, tunnels, manholes and below-grade structures. The strips, tape and cord are placed on the first pour and expand on contact with water after the second pour, closing the joint against hydrostatic pressure; the P-201 swellable sealant seals irregular details and seats the preformed profiles. Waterstop forms

Choose the Adeka waterstop form for the joint

Adeka UltraSeal comes as preformed strips in several profiles, a thin tape, a small-diameter cord and a gun-grade swellable sealant. The joint geometry, the detail being sealed and the available concrete cover decide the form; the specification and the current Adeka datasheet decide the exact profile.

Product formTypical use and what to confirmAdeka products in this form
Preformed hydrophilic stripsConstruction joints in walls, slabs and footingsThe standard form for horizontal and vertical construction joints in foundations, walls, tanks, vaults and tunnel linings. Confirm the specified profile and dimensions, the minimum concrete cover on every side, the design hydrostatic head, whether delayed-swell protection is required for wet placement conditions, and the fixing method (adhesive, nails or both).MC-2010MN (82 ft case), KM-3030M (33 ft case), KBA-1510FP (82 ft case)
Thin-profile tapeNarrow joints and limited coverA lower-profile strip for joints where a full-size profile would not have adequate cover or where the joint is narrow. Confirm the minimum cover and the head rating for the thinner section, and whether the specification permits a tape profile in that location.MC-2005T (330 ft case)
Hydrophilic cordPipe penetrations and small detailsSmall-diameter cord for wrapping pipe and conduit penetrations, sealing around embedded items and following tight or curved details a strip cannot. Confirm the diameter against the annular space and cover, the number of wraps the detail calls for, and how the cord is held in place until the pour.KM-String 4 mm (165 ft case), KM-String 6 mm (165 ft case)
Swellable sealantIrregular substrates and transitionsGun-grade hydrophilic sealant for rough or irregular concrete, for bedding and seating preformed strips, and for sealing gaps at strip ends, corners and transitions. Confirm the bead size and cure time before the second pour, substrate preparation and whether the detail needs the sealant alone or as a complement to a strip.UltraSeal P-201

Product names and case lengths follow the current Indcon Supply catalog. Profile dimensions, expansion ratio, head pressure and minimum cover are meaningful only as published for the specific profile; use the current Adeka UltraSeal datasheet and installation instructions for the exact product before approving a substitution.

Where Adeka is specified

Match Adeka waterstop to the structure

Hydrophilic waterstop is placed in the cold joint between two pours, so it is chosen and installed as part of the concrete sequence rather than added afterward. Use the specification and the Adeka installation instructions together.

Foundations, walls and below-grade structures

Basements, elevator pits, retaining walls, vaults and footing-to-wall joints use a preformed strip along the full length of each construction joint. Keep the strip centered with the specified cover on all sides and protect it from moisture until the second pour.

Compare Adeka with other joint-sealing systems on the Waterstop and Waterproofing pages.

Water and wastewater structures

Tanks, clearwells, digesters, wet wells and channels carry sustained hydrostatic head and frequent wet-dry cycling. Confirm the head rating, any potable-water or chemical-exposure requirement in the specification, and the profile the engineer has approved for each joint type.

Send the joint schedule with a project request and we will confirm the profile and case count against it.

Pipe, conduit and utility penetrations

Sleeves, pipes and conduits passing through slabs and walls are wrapped with hydrophilic cord or a small strip before the pour, or sealed with P-201 where the annulus is irregular. Confirm the diameter, number of wraps and cover the detail requires.

Where a penetration is already leaking, an injection grout may be the repair rather than a waterstop; see Urethane Grouts.

Tunnels, precast and segmental work

Tunnel linings, box culverts, manholes and precast joints use strips and tape in confined profiles, often with limited cover. Confirm the profile size the segment allows, the fixing method on the precast surface and the sequence for protecting the waterstop during handling and setting.

Irregular or rough precast surfaces are usually seated with P-201 before the strip is placed.

Before you order

Adeka waterstop quantities, cover & documents

Use the joint schedule, the specification and the Adeka product data to confirm the profile, the quantity and the documents required for the installation.

Confirm profile and cover

Match the profile named in the specification to the exact Adeka product code, then check the minimum concrete cover on every side of the joint against the section. Where cover is short, ask whether a thinner profile or a different detail has been approved.

Convert joint length to cases

Total the linear footage of every joint, penetration wrap and detail, add an allowance for overlaps, corners and waste, divide by the case length of the exact product and round up to whole cases. Add P-201 tubes for seating and irregular details.

Assemble the submittal

Gather the current Adeka UltraSeal datasheet, installation instructions, SDS and any certification or test documentation the project requests. Include the product code, case length and quantity. Ask for technical help when a document or limit is unclear.

Project orders

Request Adeka project pricing

Send the specified Adeka profiles and joint footage for your foundation, tank, tunnel or utility project. If the profile is still under review, include the specification, joint details and cover so we can confirm the right form.

Include with your request

  • Adeka product code, case length and quantity
  • Total joint footage and penetration count
  • Concrete cover, head pressure and exposure
  • Delivery ZIP and required-on-site date

Adeka waterstop questions

What is Adeka UltraSeal waterstop?

Adeka UltraSeal is a hydrophilic rubber waterstop placed in concrete construction joints. The material expands on contact with water after the joint is enclosed by the second pour, pressing against the concrete to block water movement through the joint. It is supplied as preformed strips, a thin tape, a cord and a gun-grade swellable sealant.

Which Adeka profile do I need for a construction joint?

Use the profile named in the specification. In general, full-size strips such as MC-2010MN and KM-3030M are used where standard cover is available, MC-2005T where the joint is narrow or cover is limited, and KM-String cord for penetrations and tight details. Confirm the profile, cover and head rating on the current Adeka datasheet.

How much concrete cover does hydrophilic waterstop need?

Each profile has a published minimum cover on every side, and placing a strip too close to a face can crack the concrete as the material expands. Check the minimum cover for the exact profile against the joint section, and ask about a thinner profile or alternative detail where cover is short.

What is P-201 used for?

UltraSeal P-201 is a swellable hydrophilic sealant applied from a cartridge. It seals irregular or rough concrete, beds and seats preformed strips, and closes gaps at strip ends, corners and transitions where a preformed profile alone cannot follow the surface.

How many cases of Adeka waterstop do I need?

Total the linear footage of all joints and details, add an allowance for overlaps, corners and waste, divide by the case length of the exact product and round up. Case lengths differ by product, so a substitution changes the case count.

Can I get Adeka datasheets and installation instructions?

Yes. Current datasheets and safety data sheets are linked from the individual product pages, and we can supply installation instructions and any test or compliance documentation the project requests with a quote or order.
