Adeka MC-2010MN 82' Case

Adeka Ultraseal MC-2010MN is a waterstop designed for use in below grade cast-in-place concrete joints where water intrusion must be prevented. MC- 2010MN is designed to replace conventional waterstop in non-moving joints. It is also used for cast-in-place or block out piping penetrations where pipe diameter exceeds 24".

  • Integrated wire mesh prevents unnecessary expansion in length and width
  • Excellent durability
  • Chemically resistant

Adeka Ultraseal MC-2010MN Hydrophilic Waterstop

Adeka Ultraseal MC-2010MN is a non-vulcanized hydrophilic rubber strip with stainless mesh for below-grade CIP non-moving joints and CIP or block-out piping larger than 24 in. Mesh-directed swell is about 2 times by volume, with about 4 to 5 in of cover, on tanks, vaults, WWTP, and dams. A thinner adhesive-backed profile is available as the Adeka MC-2005T.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is Adeka Ultraseal MC-2010MN the right profile versus MC-2005T?
Use MC-2010MN on a formed non-moving CIP joint or on piping larger than 24 in. Adeka Ultraseal MC-2005T is the adhesive 20 x 5 mm strip, typically for pipe 24 in or smaller. Pipe diameter and whether the joint is a formed CIP joint decide the profile.

Can Adeka Ultraseal MC-2010MN replace conventional PVC waterstop in a non-moving joint?
Yes. The OCM sheet says MC-2010MN is designed to replace conventional waterstop in non-moving joints. Moving joints are a different product.

How much does Adeka Ultraseal MC-2010MN expand?
About 2 times by volume (120% on the press-sheet values). Stainless mesh in MC-2010MN directs that swell so the strip does not wind along its length.

What below-grade structures is Adeka Ultraseal MC-2010MN used on?
The sheet lists below-grade joints, piping penetrations, cooling towers, utility vaults, water tanks, reservoirs, manholes, WWTP, dams, and WTP. Those are MC-2010MN uses, not a mix with KBA or KM-String.

How much concrete cover does Adeka Ultraseal MC-2010MN typically need?
About 4 to 5 in depending on concrete strength on the MC coverage sheet. That cover is a property of MC-2010MN. Placement between rebar is on the install sheet, not this FAQ.

Does the stainless mesh in Adeka Ultraseal MC-2010MN change how it swells?
Yes. The mesh cuts unnecessary expansion in length and width and directs swell into the joint. That is why MC-2010MN is the formed CIP profile, not the adhesive 20 x 5 mm strip.
