WR Meadows POINTING MASTIC 5 Gallon Pail

WR Meadows POINTING MASTIC is a pre-mixed, cold-applied, polymeric, single-component sealing compound that cures to a tough, flexible membrane. It is intended to seal exterior, vertical and horizontal terminations of WR Meadows MEL-ROL, PRECON, MEL-DEK, AIR-SHIELD, PERMINATOR and PREMOULDED MEMBRANE VAPOR SEAL WITH PLASMATIC CORE, and for adhesive bonding of PROTECTION COURSE and MEL-DRAIN. It is also used with NEOPRENE FLASHING MEMBRANE in HRM 714 work. It bonds to structural concrete, masonry and wood, and can be used on metal flashings, on patches and overlaps in detail areas, between membrane and clamping rings, and to seal joints, curbs, gutters and sewer joints. It contains solvent and its vapor is flammable, so it must not be applied to foam or insulated concrete forms, and it goes only in areas that will not be covered with a waterproofing membrane.

Frequently Asked Questions

How far does a pail of WR Meadows POINTING MASTIC go?
WR Meadows lists about 200 lineal ft (61 m) per gallon when used as directed, so a 5 gallon pail runs about 1,000 lineal ft. It goes on about 1/8 Inch thick in a strip 1-3 Inch wide.

Where is POINTING MASTIC applied?
Apply a bead on the top-edge horizontal termination of membranes on vertical walls, in the center of the detail strip at inside corners where wall and footing meet, and at the lower center point of outside corners. Apply it at laps around corners, extending 12 Inch in each direction, and between membrane and clamping rings at terminations, drains and protrusions. Apply it only in areas that will not be covered with a waterproofing membrane.

What temperature does it need?
Store it at 60 F (16 C) or higher before use; it gets stiffer and harder to work when cool. The application temperature should match the product it is used with. Surfaces must be dry, frost-free, clean and free of contaminants.

What precautions apply?
POINTING MASTIC vapor is flammable. It contains solvent that may react with insulated concrete forms or foam insulation, so do not apply it to foam. Clean tools with mineral spirits and follow the solvent maker's precautions, and read the health and safety information on the label.
