Avanti AV-202-LV Multigrout LV 1 Gallon

Avanti AV-202-LV Multigrout LV is the low viscosity version of AV-202 Multigrout, a single-component, moisture-activated hydrophilic polyurethane injection resin, supplied in a 1 gallon container holding 8.8 lb (4.0 kg) net. It permeates tight cracks and joints in poured concrete, pipe penetrations and precast structures to seal active water leaks.

  • Preferred 1:1 water-to-resin ratio; turns into a gel at 8:1
  • 100% solids, solvent-free; free rise expands 300% - 600%
  • Not regulated under US DOT regulations

Avanti AV-202-LV Multigrout LV 1 Gallon

Avanti AV-202-LV Multigrout LV is the low viscosity version of the original AV-202 Multigrout: a single-component polyurethane injection resin made with an MDI/TDI blend and activated by moisture. It is intended for sealing active water leaks by permeating tight cracks or joints in poured concrete, pipe penetrations and precast structures. The resin seeks out water in the crack and the pores of the substrate and adheres to the surface, then expands to form a tight compressive seal, and the network of compressed grout in the cracks sets up a mechanical lock. Mixed at the preferred 1:1 water-to-resin ratio it forms a strong, impermeable bond; at 8:1 it turns into a gel. It is pumped as a single component without pre-mixing, and goes on by the Expanded Gasket Placement (EGP), Needle Penetration (NPT) and Variable Pressure Application (V-PAT) techniques. For best results use it between 60 F and 90 F (16 C to 32 C).

Key Features

  • Single-component, moisture-activated MDI/TDI polyurethane resin; no pre-mixing
  • 100% solids, solvent-free and non-corrosive
  • Free rise expands 300% - 600% and cures flexible
  • Accepts up to 8 times its volume in water
  • Can be used in underwater applications

Applications

  • Active water leaks in tight cracks or joints in poured concrete and precast structures
  • Manhole sealing and pipe penetrations
  • Moving cracks and joints, including subgrade and wet environments
  • Cracks or joints sealed together with AV-215 Resin Rod or AV-219 Fibrotite (oakum)

Frequently Asked Questions

What water-to-resin ratio should I use?
The preferred ratio is 1:1 water to resin, which forms a strong, impermeable bond. AV-202-LV stays effective up to 8:1 with water, where it turns into a gel. It can be pumped as a single component without pre-mixing. Avanti recommends a standard cup test with site water to set the reaction time, because site water and conditions change the results.

How fast does AV-202-LV react?
At 1:1 water to resin, laboratory cream / gel times are 0:38 / 3:08 at 40 F (4 C), 0:20 / 1:12 at 70 F (21 C) and 0:15 / 1:06 at 80 F (27 C). At 8:1 the gel time is 3:41 at 40 F and 1:13 at 70 F. Resin and water temperatures affect these times. At 45 F (7 C) the viscosity can rise significantly, so warm the resin to about 72 F (22 C) with a heat source other than an open flame.

Can AV-203 Multicat be added?
Yes, at low temperatures or to cut off high water flows, at no more than 78 fl oz of AV-203 (one container) per pail of AV-202-LV. Do not use AV-203 when injecting at ratios higher than 1:1 water to grout, and do not rely on it as a stand-alone solution. At 1:1 with full catalyst (8:1 resin to catalyst), cream / gel time is 0:11 / 0:34 at 60 F. Do not store grout that has been catalyzed.

How do I clean equipment and store the resin?
Never clean with water, because AV-202-LV is water activated and will set in hoses and equipment. Flush uncured resin with AV-284 Pump Wash, purge with AV-208 Technical Grade Acetone before use, and remove cured resin with AV-222 Cleaner. Store between 45 F and 95 F (7 C and 35 C) in a dry place with the container tightly closed; opened containers should not be stored at the low end of that range.
