Avanti AV-202 Multigrout 5 Gallon Pail
Avanti AV-202 Multigrout is a single-component polyurethane injection resin made with an MDI/TDI blend and activated by moisture. It is intended for sealing active water leaks in large cracks or joints in concrete and brick structures, including applications where high-volume water flow is an active or potential problem and a high viscosity chemistry is required. The resin seeks out water and adheres to the substrate, expands into a tight compressive seal, and locks mechanically within the cracks. Mixed at the preferred 1:1 water-to-resin ratio it forms a strong, impermeable bond; at 10:1 it turns into a gel. It is pumped as a single component without pre-mixing, and goes on by the EGP, NPT and V-PAT techniques. AV-202 is tested and certified by WQA against NSF/ANSI/CAN 61 Drinking Water System Components; using the optional AV-203 Multicat accelerator is not covered by that certification.

What water-to-resin ratio should I use?
The preferred ratio is 1:1 water to resin, which forms a strong, impermeable bond. AV-202 stays effective up to 10:1 with water, where it turns into a gel, and accepts up to 10 times its volume in water. It is pumped as a single component without pre-mixing. Run a standard cup test with site water to set the reaction time.
How fast does AV-202 react?
At 1:1 water to resin, laboratory cream / gel times are 0:39 / 2:47 at 40 F (4 C), 0:21 / 1:12 at 70 F (21 C) and 0:17 / 0:47 at 80 F (27 C). At 10:1 the gel time is 2:26 at 40 F and 1:05 at 70 F. Resin and water temperatures, site water and site conditions change these times.
Is AV-202 Multigrout certified for potable water?
Yes. AV-202 is tested and certified by WQA against NSF/ANSI/CAN 61 Drinking Water System Components; use restrictions are listed at wqa.org. Using AV-203 Multicat with it is not covered by that certification. A non-potable version, AV-202-NTP Multigrout NTP, is also made.
Can AV-203 Multicat be added?
At low temperatures or to cut off high water flows, use no more than 78 fl oz of AV-203 (one container) per pail of AV-202, and never when injecting at ratios higher than 1:1 water to grout. It is not a stand-alone solution. At 1:1 with full catalyst (8:1 resin to catalyst), cream / gel time is 0:11 / 0:39 at 60 F. Do not store grout that has been catalyzed.
What temperature should I grout at?
For best results use AV-202 between 60 F and 90 F (16 C and 32 C). If the site is cold, warm the resin to about 72 F (22 C) with a heat source other than an open flame. At 45 F (7 C) the viscosity can rise significantly, which makes mixing with the reaction water more difficult.
How do I clean equipment and store the resin?
Never clean with water, because the resin is water activated and will set in hoses and equipment. Flush uncured resin with AV-284 Pump Wash, purge with AV-208 Technical Grade Acetone before use, and remove cured resin with AV-222 Cleaner. Store between 45 F and 95 F (7 C and 35 C) in a dry place with the container tightly closed; opened containers should not be stored at the low end of that range.
