WR Meadows PENTREAT 244-100 is a reactive, penetrating, 100% active silane sealer for concrete and masonry, supplied in a 5 gallon pail. It inhibits water and chloride ion penetration on horizontal, vertical and overhead above-grade surfaces.
WR Meadows PENTREAT 244-100 (part of the pentreat line) is a reactive, penetrating, 100% active silane sealer. It is a hydrophobic, impregnating sealer that helps prevent chloride-induced corrosion of rebar, scaling, spalling and freeze-thaw damage in concrete and masonry. It chemically bonds to the substrate, stopping liquid absorption while still allowing vapor transmission, and leaves no residue. It is intended for horizontal, vertical, overhead, new and existing above-grade surfaces. It will not be effective on improperly designed, placed or cured concrete. PENTREAT 244-100 is combustible.

What is WR Meadows PENTREAT 244-100?
It is a reactive, penetrating, 100% active silane sealer that inhibits water and chloride ion penetration in concrete and masonry. It helps prevent chloride-induced rebar corrosion, scaling, spalling and freeze-thaw damage on above-grade horizontal, vertical and overhead surfaces.
How much does a 5 gallon pail of PENTREAT 244-100 cover?
Unless the project specification says otherwise, coverage can be up to 250 sq ft/gal, so a 5 gallon pail covers up to about 1,250 sq ft. The rate varies with the porosity of the substrate.
How is PENTREAT 244-100 put down?
Use a low-pressure airless sprayer such as a Chapin 19069 at a 0.1 GPM spray rate, letting it flood the surface. On horizontal surfaces, saturate in a single pass, leave wet 3-5 minutes, then brush or broom out all pools and puddles. On vertical and overhead surfaces, put down two coats wet on wet. It usually dries in one hour at 70 F.
Where can PENTREAT 244-100 be sold under VOC rules?
The data sheet lists a VOC content of 315 g/L and compliance with CARB, National EPA, LADCO, Maricopa County, OTC Phase I and II, SCAQMD and Utah DEQ R307 maximum allowable VOC requirements.
What safety precautions does the data sheet list?
PENTREAT 244-100 is combustible. Keep it away from open flames, sparks and other ignition sources, use adequate ventilation and block HVAC ducts that could spread vapors, since the vapors are flammable and heavier than air. On vertical work, protect window panes and frames that will be painted. See the safety data sheet for full details.
What are the limits on surface conditions?
Wait 14-28 days on new concrete, and keep residual moisture at or below 4%. Surface temperature should be 40 F and rising to 95 F and falling. Protect from rain for six hours minimum, 12 preferred. It is not a waterproofing or vapor barrier and will not block water through cracked or improperly repaired surfaces.
