WR Meadows CLAY-TITE is a dual-layer, below-grade waterproofing membrane of 20 mil HDPE, sodium bentonite and a non-woven polypropylene protective layer, supplied in a 3.5 ft x 21.5 ft (75 sq ft) roll. It is intended for blindside, backfilled wall and underslab work, vertical or horizontal.
WR Meadows CLAY-TITE is a dual-layer waterproofing membrane made of virgin 20 mil HDPE, sodium bentonite and a non-woven polypropylene protective layer. The HDPE is the first layer of waterproofing, the bentonite self-seals to protect against punctures under hydrostatic conditions, and the polypropylene fabric protects the bentonite when shotcrete is placed directly against it. It is intended for below-grade work, either pre-applied before the concrete is poured or in standard applications, and can be used vertically or horizontally. Underslab, it acts as both the waterproofing and the vapor barrier. This is the standard CLAY-TITE roll; for ground water with high sodium levels (sea water or brackish water), WR Meadows technical services may call for CLAY-TITE HSR instead.

Which side of WR Meadows CLAY-TITE faces the concrete?
On backfilled walls the bentonite side goes toward the concrete. In blindside work the HDPE side faces the drainage board, so the bentonite faces the concrete pour. Underslab, the bentonite side faces up on the mud slab or compacted sub-grade.
When should I use CLAY-TITE MASTIC instead of CLAY-TITE ADHESIVE at the seams?
Use CLAY-TITE MASTIC below the water table or when temperatures will be below 40 F (4 C). CLAY-TITE ADHESIVE is for work above the water table at temperatures above 40 F. The data sheet names MASTIC as the preferred product in most applications, and under constant hydrostatic head all joints and seams are detailed with MASTIC.
What limits apply to a CLAY-TITE installation?
The membrane must be confined by at least 24 lb/sq ft (117.2 kg/m²). Keep it dry and protected from the elements, and do not install it over ponding water or ice. The surface must be smooth, sound and void-free: detail openings over 1 Inch with plywood, grout or another method, and remove sharp protrusions over 1/4 Inch.
Can CLAY-TITE be used with salt or brackish ground water?
Where ground water has a high sodium level, such as sea water or brackish water, contact WR Meadows technical services. CLAY-TITE HSR may be required, and a water test may be needed to confirm the membrane suits the site.
