Ceilcote EJ-3 is a two-component pourable polysulfide joint sealant used on horizontal expansion and control joints in chemical process floors. Once cured it forms a flexible synthetic rubber with adhesion to concrete, steel, and common construction materials.
Ceilcote EJ-3 in this 5 gallon unit (18.92 L) is the production pack for horizontal joint footage a 1 gallon kit will not cover: plant floors, long expansion-joint runs, and chemical process areas being sealed in one mobilization. It is the same two-component, pourable polysulfide elastomer. Once cured it forms a tight-fitting synthetic rubber with excellent resistance to water and salts, and good resistance to dilute acids, alkalis, and many solvents. Do not specify it where chlorinated solvents, ketones, or acetates are the exposure. Consistency is a heavy liquid, so it is for horizontal joints, not overhead work. Temperature resistance is -50°F to 200°F (-45°C to 93°C). Tensile strength is 180 psi. When the take-off is closer to a single gallon, use the Ceilcote EJ-3 1 gallon elastomeric joint sealant. What chemicals does Ceilcote EJ-3 resist?

Design joints so sealant elongation stays within 25% during extreme temperature change. Elongation capacity is 200% (ASTM D-412). Best joint shape is sealant depth equal to one-half the joint width, and depth should not exceed width.

Does EJ-3 need a primer?
Yes. Prime joint walls with CEILCOTE EJ3/EJ4 Primer after abrasive blasting and placing a non-bonding backing material. If sealant is not placed within 24 hours of priming, re-prime the joint.
