WR Meadows WATERSTOP EC PLUS is a sodium bentonite and hydrophilic rubber waterstop for static construction joints, supplied as a carton of six 1/2 Inch x 1 Inch x 16 ft 8 Inch rolls (100 LF). It is intended for joints that see continuous wetting and drying cycles.
WR Meadows WATERSTOP EC PLUS is a sodium bentonite and hydrophilic rubber combination intended to give a watertight seal at static construction joints, while working in an environment of continuous wetting and drying cycles. Full hydration or dehydration takes about four days, and the strip returns to its original placement and size after one prolonged hydration cycle. It is used in concrete footings, walls, floors, tunnels, and parking and plaza decks to stop water migrating through cast-in-place construction joints once it is confined, including under high water head. It resists a variety of chemical contaminants common to urban water and soil. It is not an expansion joint sealant: it seals structural concrete joints with a compressive strength of at least 3,000 psi (20.7 MPa), with 2 Inch (50 mm) of concrete cover all around.

How is WATERSTOP EC PLUS installed?
Clean and dry the surface and place a bead of CLAY-TITE MASTIC across it. Remove the thin liner and press the strip into place with the nylon side up. Once it is hand-pressed in place, fix it with standard masonry nails 12 Inch (304.8 mm) apart, then release the thick liner. Concrete can then be poured or placed, covering 2 Inch (50 mm) all around the waterstop.
What if the waterstop gets wet before the pour?
Do not install it in standing water or over ice. If WATERSTOP EC PLUS has been continuously submerged for more than 24 hours, let it dry for an equal time before placing concrete, or replace it with new product. Store cartons on a skid or pallet, covered with polyethylene or a tarp, and protect them from moisture.
Can it be used in expansion joints?
No. WATERSTOP EC PLUS is not intended to function as an expansion joint sealant. It seals static, structural concrete construction joints with a compressive strength of at least 3,000 psi (20.7 MPa).
What about sites with salt water or chemical contamination?
Where elevated chemical contamination or high levels of salt water are known to exist on the site, WR Meadows directs users to WATERSTOP EC PLUS HSR instead. CLAY-TITE MASTIC may go on damp surfaces, but not over dust, debris or standing water.
