WR Meadows VOCOMP-20 55 Gallon Drum

WR Meadows VOCOMP-20 is a curing and sealing compound formulated from acrylic polymers in a true water-based carrier. It is milky white in the container and leaves a bluish cast when it first goes on, so coverage is easy to see, then dries clear to a transparent sheen. The sheen builds with the number of coats. The film resists yellowing from UV exposure, raises resistance to chemicals and wear, and holds moisture in fresh concrete for curing. This 55 gallon drum covers about 11,000 sq ft when curing new concrete, or about 16,500 to 22,000 sq ft when sealing existing concrete.

Key Features

  • Cures and/or seals concrete in one application
  • Permeable film lets moisture in cured concrete evaporate
  • Bluish cast on application for visual coverage, dries clear
  • Resists yellowing from UV exposure
  • Tools clean up with soap and water while wet

Applications

  • Sidewalks, patios, and driveways
  • Basement and garage floors
  • Parking areas
  • New interior or exterior concrete, horizontal or vertical

Frequently Asked Questions

What is WR Meadows VOCOMP-20 used for?
It cures and/or seals new interior or exterior concrete on horizontal and vertical surfaces. Typical uses are sidewalks, basement and garage floors, patios, driveways, and parking areas.

How much area does the VOCOMP-20 55 Gallon Drum cover?
For curing freshly placed concrete, the rate is 200 sq ft per gallon, or about 11,000 sq ft for this 55 gallon drum. For sealing existing concrete, the rate is 300 to 400 sq ft per gallon, or about 16,500 to 22,000 sq ft. On a broomed finish, WR Meadows recommends a second application to meet ASTM C309 and AASHTO M 148 water retention. Always test a small area first.

When should VOCOMP-20 go on new concrete?
Apply it once the surface water has disappeared and walking workers will not mar the surface. Existing concrete more than 7 days old must be clean and dry, with a surface pH of 7 to 13, and any liquid compound other than VOCOMP-20, VOCOMP-25, or VOCOMP-30 must be fully removed first.

How is VOCOMP-20 applied?
Mix gently, since excessive mixing causes foaming. Spray it in a fine fog pattern with an industrial sprayer such as a Chapin 1949 and a 0.1 GPM nozzle at 40 psi, or use a lint-free roller or lambs wool applicator while keeping a wet edge. Brush or roll out any puddles. On densely troweled floors, apply a single coat only and do not over-apply.

How long before VOCOMP-20 can take foot traffic?
It dries quickly, but keep foot traffic off for at least four hours, and twelve hours is preferred. Drying can take longer depending on rate, temperature, and humidity.

What precautions apply to VOCOMP-20?
Keep it from freezing, and do not apply it if air, material, or surface temperatures will drop below 40 F within four hours. Do not let the coating freeze for 24 hours, and do not mix or dilute it. Do not use it on dense or non-porous surfaces such as brick or stone, and expect possible mottling on colored concrete. Get approval from the manufacturer of any floor covering or coating that will go over it.
