WR Meadows PERMINATOR 10 MIL is a polyolefin-based underslab vapor barrier supplied in one 14 ft x 210 ft roll. It helps reduce moisture, water vapor and radon gas moving through the slab and goes down directly over tamped soil or compacted fill.
WR Meadows PERMINATOR 10 MIL (often searched as perminator vapor barrier) is a 10 mil underslab vapor barrier made with polyolefin-based resin technology. It helps reduce the penetration of moisture and water vapor through the slab into the structure, which helps reduce fungus, mildew and mold, and it helps reduce radon gas from entering the building. It is tough enough for normal jobsite conditions and traffic and will not crack, puncture, snag, split or tear easily. It installs over tamped grade with no gravel, fill or sand needed, and it keeps uncontrolled moisture out of the slab so the slab can stay within the moisture emission rate and relative humidity allowed by the flooring manufacturer. This roll is 14 ft (4.3 m) wide by 210 ft (64 m) long, about 2940 sq ft before overlaps.

What is WR Meadows PERMINATOR 10 MIL used for?
It is an underslab vapor barrier for slabs placed over tamped and leveled soil or compacted fill. It helps reduce moisture, water vapor and radon gas moving through the slab into the building. It can also be used in crawlspaces and as a protection course over MEL-ROL or MEL-ROL LM waterproofing membranes on foundation walls.
How much area does one 14 ft x 210 ft roll cover?
The roll is about 2940 sq ft before overlaps. Side and end seams are overlapped 6 inches, so net coverage depends on the layout. For seam tape, one carton of PERMINATOR TAPE adheres approximately 10 rolls of PERMINATOR.
How are PERMINATOR seams and penetrations sealed?
Overlap all side and end seams 6 inches and tape them with 4 inch PERMINATOR TAPE, keeping the tape area free of dust, dirt and moisture. At pipes, ductwork, rebar and wire, slit the first layer around the penetration, then add a collar cut from PERMINATOR at least 12 inches wide and 1.5 times the pipe circumference long, with fingers cut half its width, and tape it to the pipe and the bottom layer. MEL-ROL LM or POINTING MASTIC can be used around stakes, small pipe and rebar.
Does PERMINATOR need a layer of sand or gravel over it?
No. The data sheet says it is not necessary to cover PERMINATOR with gravel or sand, since it is tough enough for normal construction traffic. Most flooring companies recommend placing the slab directly on the vapor barrier, which avoids trapping moisture in a blotter layer. Check local building codes and the project design before installing.
Should PERMINATOR run over the footing?
The most efficient method places PERMINATOR on top of the footing and against the vertical wall, so it is sandwiched between the footing, wall and slab. Some building codes do not allow a vapor barrier over the footing; WR Meadows approves the alternate method where the code requires it.
Does a vapor barrier replace drainage under the slab?
No. PERMINATOR does not remove the need to relieve hydrostatic heads. A complete drain tile system should be placed on the exterior of the footing, and in severe cases on the interior as well. The slab concrete should have the lowest practical slump while still allowing complete hydration.
