SpecSeal LCI300 Intumescent Sealant is a water-resistant intumescent latex for common penetrations and construction joints. The LCI PDS names metallic pipe, iron, copper pipe and tubing, steel conduit, and EMT up to 36 in trade size; non-metallic PVC, CPVC, ABS, and PEX; insulated heating, cooling, and condensation pipe; electrical service, cable trays, and busways; telephone, data, and TV cabling; and structural steel plus HVAC, bath, and dryer metal duct. Typical assemblies include concrete or wood floors, concrete or masonry walls, and gypsum board walls.
How do crews apply the 10.1 oz LCI cartridge on walls and overhead?
LCI is a single-component sealant that may be caulked from a standard cartridge, bulk loaded, knifed, or troweled. The PDS calls out excellent caulking properties and high-build properties on vertical or overhead surfaces. Apply between 35 F and 100 F (2 C to 38 C). Wear site PPE and follow the Safety Data Sheet. What safety limit applies while SpecSeal LCI300 is still wet?
The PDS states the product contains water and is conductive until dry. Do not apply in the presence of exposed or energized electrical conductors. After dry it is water resistant and will not re-emulsify. Consult the pipe, tubing, or cable maker for known sensitivities; STI does not guarantee compatibility with every plastic, even though the formula contains no solvents that might adversely affect plastic pipes or cable jackets.
