Avanti AV-215 Resin Rod 7/8 Inch x 350 ft

Avanti AV-215 Resin Rod is an open cell polyurethane foam rod intended for use with Avanti polyurethane foam grouts by the Expanded Gasket Placement Technique (EGP). It acts as a carrier that holds the grout where it is needed while it cures, which makes it useful in vertical wall joints, overhead cracks and joints, and concrete pads. Choose a rod diameter double the width of the crack or joint and cut a length a bit longer than the crack. Saturate the rod in urethane resin, dip it quickly in water, and press it into the joint with a blunt object; the resin keeps reacting with water in the joint. If the joint is fairly dry, keep misting the placed rod with water so all of the resin cures. Avanti offers the rod in diameters from 5/8 inch to 2 inch (1.59 cm to 5.1 cm).

Frequently Asked Questions

Which diameter of Resin Rod should I use?
Use a rod with a diameter double the width of the crack or joint, cut a bit longer than the crack or joint. Avanti makes AV-215 in 5/8 inch (500 ft), 7/8 inch (350 ft), 1-1/8 inch (350 ft), 1-1/2 inch (350 ft) and 2 inch (200 ft).

How is AV-215 installed?
Saturate the rod thoroughly in urethane grout, submerge it quickly in water, and place the soaked rod in the joint with a blunt object. The resin in the rod keeps reacting with water in the joint. If there is not much water present, keep misting the placed rod with water so all of the resin cures. Avanti publishes an EGP manual at avantigrout.com.

Which grouts are used with Resin Rod?
AV-215 is intended for use with Avanti polyurethane foam grouts by the Expanded Gasket Placement Technique. Avanti’s Multigrout data sheets list use together with Resin Rod for large cracks or joints.

Where is a carrier like Resin Rod needed?
Where the resin has to be held in place while it cures: vertical wall joints, overhead cracks and joints, and concrete pads. It can also be used in place of or together with joint gaskets on large sewer and storm water transmission lines, and in the annular space around slip liners.

Can Resin Rod be used underwater?
Yes. The data sheet describes AV-215 as durable for use in all conditions, including underwater applications.

How should Resin Rod be stored?
Store between 45 F and 95 F (7 C and 35 C) in a dry atmosphere, in a sealed container away from moisture, and away from flammables or open flames.
