WR Meadows DECK-O-SEAL GUN GRADE Stone Gray 1.75 Gallon Can

WR Meadows DECK-O-SEAL GUN GRADE (often searched as deck o seal) is a two-component, non-sag, non-flowing, polysulfide-based sealing compound. It is non-staining and cures to a firm, flexible, tear-resistant rubber that recovers well after long periods of compression or elongation, and it resists most chemicals, weather, aging and shrinkage. It is intended for joints where a short turnaround is needed, such as pool bottom and sidewall repairs and areas with pedestrian and vehicular traffic, in both horizontal and vertical joints. This 1.75 gallon (6.6 liter) can holds 224 oz, supplied as base compound plus a separate container of setting agent, and is available only in Stone Gray.

Key Features

  • Non-sag, non-flowing thixotropic paste for vertical and horizontal joints
  • Cures to a firm, flexible, tear-resistant rubber with 400% elongation
  • Resists most chemicals, weather, aging and shrinkage
  • Pre-measured base and setting agent, with room in the base can for blending
  • VOC content of 0 g/L

Applications

  • Pool bottom and sidewall joint repairs, above and below the waterline
  • Joints in areas with pedestrian and vehicular traffic
  • Interior and exterior expansion joints
  • General caulking, glazing, weatherproofing and exterior curtain wall sealing

Frequently Asked Questions

What is WR Meadows DECK-O-SEAL GUN GRADE used for?
It is a non-sag, two-part polysulfide sealant for joints and seams above and below water, including pool bottom and sidewall repairs, traffic areas, glazing, weatherproofing, exterior curtain walls and interior or exterior expansion joints. It works in both horizontal and vertical joints.

How many lineal feet does the 1.75 gallon can seal?
The data sheet gives coverage per 96 oz kit, for example 106 LF at 1/2 inch wide by 1/4 inch deep and 29 LF at 1 inch wide by 1/2 inch deep. The 1.75 gallon can holds 224 oz, so it seals about 247 LF and about 68 LF at those two sizes. See the data sheet table for other joint sizes.

Does DECK-O-SEAL GUN GRADE need a primer?
It adheres well to unprimed concrete, but REZI-WELD LV is recommended for best adhesion. REZI-WELD LV is required for all joints submerged underwater and for joints over 1 inch wide. Apply the sealant while the primer is still tacky; open time is up to two hours at 75 F and gets shorter in heat or direct sun.

How is DECK-O-SEAL GUN GRADE mixed and applied?
Do not mix until ready to use, since it cannot be resealed. De-rim both cans, pour the setting agent into the base, and mix slowly for at least 10 minutes, scraping the sides and bottom until the color is uniform; a slow-speed drill can be used. It goes on with a hand- or air-operated caulking gun, putty knife or trowel, and beads are tooled with tools wetted with clean water. Wear safety glasses and chemical-resistant gloves.

How long does it take to cure?
Application life is about one hour at 77 F. Tack free time is 4 hours maximum at 77 F and 50% RH, and the sealant sets firm and rubbery within 24 hours at 77 F. Curing takes longer at lower temperatures. Hand guns work best at 60 F or higher; air-operated equipment works as low as 40 F.

Where should DECK-O-SEAL GUN GRADE not be used?
It is not compatible with asphalt, so do not use it in asphalt concrete pavement or with asphalt-impregnated expansion joint fillers. Do not paint over it or use it in joints less than 1/4 inch wide, and keep sealant depth between 1/4 and 1/2 inch. Joints below the waterline should be installed by a trained professional contractor, not a homeowner.
