WR Meadows INTRALOK is a water-based emulsion bonding agent and admixture for Portland cement mixes, supplied in a 5 gallon pail. Used neat as a bond agent it covers about 1,000 sq ft per 5 gallon pail at about 200 sq ft per gallon.
WR Meadows INTRALOK is a water-based emulsion admixture for modifying Portland cement compositions, and a bonding agent between fresh and hardened concrete. It is a milky white, non-yellowing liquid that is ready for use and needs no onsite dilution. Cement mortars modified with INTRALOK are hard, tough and durable, and concrete modified with it is unaffected by ultraviolet light. Common uses are patching and resurfacing, spray and fill coats, and repairing precast building panels and interior industrial slabs. It works as an interface bonding agent scrubbed onto prepared concrete, or as an integral bonding agent in bonding slurries, topping mixtures, finishing mixes and mortar mixes. Do not apply it below 45 F or above 90 F, and do not wet cure INTRALOK-modified mixes.

Product documents: WR Meadows INTRALOK Data Sheet (PDF)
How much area does a 5 gallon pail of INTRALOK cover?
As a bond agent, INTRALOK covers approximately 200 sq ft per gallon undiluted, so a 5 gallon pail covers about 1,000 sq ft. It must be thoroughly worked and scrubbed onto the prepared concrete, and the cementitious mix should go on while INTRALOK is still tacky.
How should the concrete be prepared?
Prepare the substrate to ICRI technical guideline 310.2. Mechanically roughen or high pressure water-jet it to a concrete surface profile of CSP-4 or higher, and remove all unsound concrete. Sanding, wire brushing and grinding are not approved preparation methods. The substrate must be saturated surface dry (SSD) with no standing water.
What mixes can INTRALOK be used in?
The data sheet gives mixes by volume: a bonding slurry of 1 part INTRALOK, 2.5 parts Portland cement and 2.5 parts fine sand; a topping, shallow patching or mortar mix of 1 part INTRALOK, 5 parts cement and 15 parts fine sand; and a finish mix for non-traffic surfaces. As a concrete admixture, add 2.5 gallons per cubic yard and remove 1.5 gallons of water per cubic yard. Work life is approximately 30 - 40 minutes at 70 F.
What are the temperature and curing limits?
Do not apply below 45 F (7.2 C), above 90 F (32 C), or when rain is imminent, and keep the product from freezing. Do not wet cure, as this lowers strength. Cure right after application with a water-based curing compound or per ACI 308; WR Meadows recommends 1100-CLEAR or 2200-WHITE and says not to use solvent-based curing compounds. Shelf life is nine months.
