WR Meadows CERA-ROD is a heat-resistant, non-gassing cross-linked polyethylene backer rod, offered here as a 1/2 inch diameter carton of 2500 LF. It is intended for use with hot-applied joint sealants in Portland cement or asphalt concrete joints and large cracks.
WR Meadows CERA-ROD is a closed-cell, round, flexible, continuous-length backer rod extruded from cross-linked polyethylene. It is non-absorbent, non-gassing, non-staining, and non-shrinking, and it keeps its original diameter when exposed to high sealant temperatures. In joints or large cracks in Portland cement or asphalt concrete, it sets the correct sealant reservoir, holds joint depth, stops sealant run-out through the bottom of the joint, and acts as a bond breaker against bottom-side adhesion.

What sealants is CERA-ROD used with?
CERA-ROD is intended for hot-applied joint sealants. It will not melt, shrink, evaporate, or stain, and it stays non-gassing when exposed to high sealant temperatures. Its temperature limit is 410 F (210 C).
How do I choose the CERA-ROD diameter?
For joint widths up to 3/4 inch, choose a rod 1/8 inch larger than the joint width. For joints 3/4 inch and wider, add 1/4 inch to the joint width when selecting the rod. CERA-ROD must be held in compression to work.
How is CERA-ROD installed?
Remove all dirt and foreign matter from the crack or joint. Install the rod with a single-wheeled or three-wheeled roller, depending on the work, and avoid stretching or puncturing it.
How soon can sealant go on after CERA-ROD is installed?
Hot-applied joint sealants from WR Meadows can go on immediately after the rod is in place.
