Maintenance and plant crews brush it onto silos, chutes, mills, pumps, impeller blades, valves, fan blades, metal castings, and tanks in abrasive environments, and use it as a final reinforced topcoat over repaired surfaces.

How do crews apply Sylmasta Ceramic Brushable Blue on site?
Prepare dry, grease-free surfaces; remove paint, rust, and grime by abrasive blasting or sandpaper, and roughen for a mechanical key. Measure 5 parts resin to 1 part hardener by weight, or 3:1 by volume; for a whole kit, Part A and Part B are supplied in the correct ratio so hardener can be dispensed into the resin container. Mix until streak free and a uniform colour, then brush on coats 0.5-1.0 mm thick. Apply at least two coats for a pinhole-free coating, waiting until the previous coat has fully hardened (recoat approximately 4-8 hours, or when the first coat has gelled). Work time is 45 minutes; tack free around four hours; full cure in 24 hours. Wear eye protection and rubber or plastic coated gloves, and follow the Safety Data Sheet.

Metal previously in contact with seawater or salt solutions needs grit blasting, high-pressure water blasting, and salt sweat-out so soluble salts on the substrate stay at no more than 40 ppm before application.
